This is the inquiry I posed to heading into Along Came the Devil II, as I haven’t watched Along Came the Devil, and nothing I’d read about it makes me need to. Yet, I had a meeting agreed with the spin-off’s stunning star, Laura Slade Wiggins, and needed to do my due industriousness preceding our discussion. So I read some Cliff’s Notes on the first, pushed play on the screener, and was charmingly astonished… at any rate generally. Things start with a blast, slow down for around 30 to 35 minutes, and after that convey every one of the merchandise in the last demonstration. So strong first act, extraordinary last act, and a moderate center. The film is supported by the incomparable Bruce Davison, who can act his way around anything. He plays a beset cleric left over from the primary film, who’s confronted the Devil and accepts that malevolent power has returned. Praise too to Ms. Slade Wiggins. She does some strong shout sovereign work here, and is a solid female lead, keeping the SQ custom alive. Author/chief Jason DeVan probably won’t offer anything new, yet his film looks incredible and moves at a truly quick clasp. Furthermore, he can arrange a panic. The man’s concentrated the class, and recognizes what we’re here for. Next time, there should be boobies however, Jason. Just FYI. I’m going to give Along Came the Devil II a Good. I’d of preferred a marginally quicker paced center act, yet this was as yet a smooth, dreadful and well-made film. Shawn agrees, and gives it a Good too.
